Robert & Kay Camenisch encouraging and equipping relationships

Happy Thanksgiving! All Year Long

It’s Thanksgiving. Our house is full of family—13 extras—from out of town and my heart is overflowing with gratefulness. We are blessed and have much to be thankful for.

In the midst of the confusion of children underfoot and preparing food for the larger crowd, Robert has gotten a very bad cold and his 92-year-old father fell and has had a major setback.

The unexpected challenges of the week are reinforcement of what the Lord has impressed upon my heart this year.

It’s easy to be grateful for delightful grandchildren under your roof, for children who are serving the Lord, for a warm home, plenty of food, a coat to keep out the cold, and so forth.

We often take daily blessings for granted and sometimes forget to be grateful for them, but what about the trials and challenges in life? God says to be grateful for all things. We need to be grateful for things we don’t like too.

It doesn’t matter what our day holds, if we haven’t turned our backs and walked away from Him, the Lord is with us. Furthermore, He will use the “bad” for good in our lives and for His kingdom. Every day, we have much to be grateful for.

Life has been bright and exciting as I’ve anticipated being surrounded by family for ten days. I like living with that perspective. I want to walk in it every day; not just when I’m blessed with extra special things that I choose.

A grateful heart makes life a blessing.

I hope your life is filled with special blessings this week. Happy Thanksgiving!

And I pray that—for you and me—it won’t be just a seasonal experience, but that the gratefulness we feel will permeate our hearts and lives every day throughout the year. After all, the Lord is good all the time, and He blesses us every day.

Crosswalk had an article that expressed it much better, “Thanks for Tomatoes” at http://www.crosswalk.com/special-coverage/thanksgiving/thanks-for-tomatoes.html.

I’d love to hear what the Lord has been saying to you this Thanksgiving.
